Explore plate types after choosing your state

Every state organizes specialty plates differently. Plate Try On starts with the state, then updates the Plate Type menu with the standard and specialty names cataloged for that jurisdiction. This keeps the selector usable even when a state offers a long list of causes, universities, military plates, scenic designs, and historic backgrounds.

Plate names were reviewed against official DMV, DOL, MVD, BMV, or motor-vehicle sources. Each state selection includes a link back to its government source so you can verify the current program.

02

Preview the plate as part of the vehicle—not by itself

A flat plate sample cannot show how the colors relate to a bumper, grille, trunk, or tailgate. The visualizer creates a front-and-side view and a rear-and-side view using the selected make, model, model year, and exterior color.

This makes it easier to compare a dark historic background, a bright scenic plate, a minimalist standard issue, or a cause plate before committing to personalized characters.

03

Understand the limits of generated plate artwork

Specialty-plate artwork can contain small logos, slogans, seals, gradients, and detailed illustrations. The prompt uses plate-specific visual instructions where available and category rules for other designs, but the generated image is still a simulation rather than an official proof.

Use the mockup for overall color and style decisions. Use the linked state source for availability, current eligibility, fees, character limits, and exact government-issued artwork.

Questions

What to know before you generate

Does Plate Try On include every currently issued US specialty plate?
It includes standard and many specialty names for all 50 states, but programs change. The official state source remains the authority for current offerings.
Can I enter personalized characters on a specialty plate?
Yes. Enter two to seven letters or numbers for the visual mockup. The site does not verify whether that character count or sequence is allowed by the state.
Does one credit create both viewing angles?
Yes. One generation credit creates a matching front-and-side and rear-and-side pair.
